Proposal Outline


Please note!! The first step in applying to the Confluence Fund (CF) is a short letter of inquiry (LOI). You MUST submit an LOI before submitting the following grant proposal.

Beginning in 2008, we will only accept electronic versions of grant proposals (no specific format required).  Final versions should be emailed .  Please do not send any hard copies. The following information should be included when invited to submit a grant proposal:

  • Organization name
  • Contact person & title (person responsible for program)
  • Name, phone number and email
  • Project title
  • Amount requested
  • Current year operating budget for organization
  • Fundraising costs (include %)
  • Administrative costs (include %)
  • Fiscal year begins
  • Type of request (mark all that apply): General support • Startup Costs • Project Support • Technical Assistance • Endowment • Capital Expenditures • Other
  • Principle Sources of Support (approximate percentages): United Way____ Government contracts____ Foundations/corporations____ Earned income____ Individual contributions____
  • Previous Funding from ABS Foundation or CF? Yes____ No____

In detail, please address the following:

  1. Summarize your organization's history, mission, and goals.
  2. What is the purpose of your request? (include what makes the program unique and why it is needed)
  3. Define your project’s measurable outcomes, and your timetable for realizing those goals. If a grant is awarded, we will require your future reporting to address fulfillment of your measurable outcomes, which should be a mix of quantifiable and qualitative factors.
  4. Describe your plans (if applicable) for sustaining the program.
  5. List other funding sources applied for or committed to the project.

Please enclose the following information with this applications:

  • Appendix A: A complete budget for the project or program.
  • Appendix B: Copies of last 2 years' financial statements or tax returns.
  • Appendix C: Copy of your IRS determination letter.

If the applicant is not required to have obtained a 501(c)(3) letter, it must provide a copy of an IRS letter or legal opinion certifying the applicant is a public charity as described in section 509 (a)(1), (2), or (3). In the case of foreign public charities, equivalent supporting documentation is required.
